We all know that we should drink more water and that by the time our mouths feel dry we are already dehydrated but did you know there are some ways that can help encourage you to drink more water. I am going to share with you 5 ways to drink more water because once drinking more becomes a habit you will find it much easier to increase your daily intake. The benefits will be felt very quickly once you make it a daily ritual to drink for water.
1. Drink a glass as soon as you wake up in the morning.
While you have been sleeping, your body has been working hard to rejuvenate your organs and repair your cells, therefore, it would truly appreciate the hydration that comes from a wonderful glass of water. It will also flush out the toxins that have accumulated around your joints whilst sleeping. A great start to the day and even better if you drink it lukewarm with the juice of 1/2 a freshly squeezed lemon added for a little extra detox.
2. Use a Refillable Drink Bottle.
While it is great to drink out of a glass, it is not always practical. When you are on the go all of the time it makes it hard to always have water on hand. If you make it part of your routine to take a water bottle with you wherever you go then you will always have your water easily accessible. When it is always right with you or in front of you there will always be that fresh reminder to keep you drinking regularly.
3. Drink a glass before each meal.
Often times we are thirsty and dehydrated but our body mistakes it as the signs of hunger. If we make it a habit to drink a glass of water before each meal not only will it help our digestion of the foods but it will also fill us up slightly. This has a wonderful way of stopping us from overeating.
4. Drink herbal teas.
Herbal teas are a wonderful way to aid you in consuming more water because herbal teas are consumed without anything else they are just as good as having water. Not only that, the benefits of many herbs will also help to keep you healthy and active. Herbs can be chosen for not only their taste but also their health benefits. For example, Chamomile is great for relaxation and calming the nerves, wonderful in times of stress. Dandelion helps to promote digestion and is also know to help cure acne. Lemon and turmeric water has great health benefits also. There are so many more positives to drinking herbal tea but if it helps you increase your water intake then that in itself would be enough. Make sure you don’t add anything else to it such as sugar.
5. Add fruit and or vegetables to your water.
Many people find water hard to drink due to the lack of taste, I know as a child I did. Try adding some cut up fruit to your bottle before you fill it. What you add is entirely up to you and what you like. Try experimenting with different things until you find something you like. Some ideas could be citrus fruits like orange, lemon or lime. Berries like blueberries, strawberries or raspberries. You could even use cucumber or watermelon. Whatever you use will benefit you. Many fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants which help the body to fight off free radicals within and keep you healthy at a cellular level.
